Give Your Smile Some Love

With Valentine’s Day just a couple weeks away, we can’t help but start thinking about love and the importance of love for others as well as for ourselves. We are often so busy in our everyday schedules that we sometimes forget or put off taking care of ourselves. This February, it’s time for your smile to get some love. Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Ben Cooperman at Dental Ben’s, offers many services to take care of one of your most important assets: your smile!

Preventative Care and Cleaning

If you haven’t scheduled a routine check-up and cleaning, now is the time! Getting a routine check-up and either a routine cleaning or deep cleaning is key to caring for your smile. We suggest getting a check-up at least once a year, a routine cleaning twice a year, and a deep cleaning whenever suggested by your dentist. A deep cleaning procedure is usually suggested by your dentist when you have a periodontal disease. Routine cleaning is needed to prevent periodontal disease. During a routine cleaning, you can expect Dr. Cooperman to perform brushing, flossing, scaling to get rid of plaque and tartar, and the procedure concludes with teeth polishing. During a deep cleaning procedure, root planing is also performed.

Once your teeth are clean and your gums are healthy, you can schedule a cosmetic dentistry procedure.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of our most requested cosmetic dentistry procedures. According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in a 2012 survey “When respondents were asked, ‘What would you most like to improve about your smile?’ The most common response was: Whiter & Brighter Teeth”. “And when asked, ‘What types of things do you consider make a smile unattractive?’ The most common responses were: Discolored, Yellow, or Stained Teeth”. Our professional teeth whitening procedures will ensure a whiter and brighter smile. Dr. Cooperman will also provide information regarding how to keep those pearly whites shining all year long.

Veneers

If you are worried about more specific issues other than discoloration, such as chipped or crooked teeth, then veneers may be the more suitable solution. Veneers are thin teeth covers that are secured to the front surface of your teeth. They can be made from different materials although porcelain dental veneers are preferred as they look 100% natural and are more durable. Porcelain veneers can be expected to last 10 to 20 years compared to composite materials which may last up to 5 years. Porcelain veneers are created by a skilled lab technician which takes a few weeks to accomplish as they create each veneer based on a mold of your existing teeth and match your teeth color to create a natural look. The application may take up to a couple of hours depending on how many veneers need to be set.
